Currently reading THE CELLIST OF SARAJEVO. Only partway through but I highly recommend it.
That part of the world is so interesting — granted, the closest I’ve been is Croatia, but it was the highlight of a recent trip I took with my parents. After meeting an American who was renovating an apartment in an incredibly quaint part of Korčula (my favorite stop) that idea immediately went on my bucket list. If I suddenly disappear off the face of the map, just know I’m probably in Croatia renovating my dream home.
And I was weirdly instinctively able to pronounce the words there — maybe there’s some Croatian in me? Ancestral memories? Yeah, one look at me and you’d know I’m Irish/Gallic.
I can pretend - I like the poetry of it all.
